Here's my submission: VHS tape knit in garter stitch on Size 15 straight needles. I don't think I've seen a project similar to this on Craftster, but if I have, thanks: all of you inspire me a lot!

Thank you, guys! And Tomas is happy to once again be "craft famous!"

Very very cute. What movie(s) did you sacrifice?

I'm not sure which movie it was--I kind of intentionally didn't want to know! It's either "Spice World" or my high school graduation, which my mom regifted to me in the spring!

Oh my, that's positively lovely! I remember Spice World. My mother went out and bought it for me when I was stuck at home with the chicken pox.  Roll Eyes

Yikes, I hope it's not your graduation, unless you have another copy. I'm having so much fun seeing everyone's creativity. Nice job!

I had thought about doing this, but I was going to use music cassette tapes.  I'm glad I didn't now!  Thats a heck of a lot better than I would have done!

Debbies only get respect in the knitting world.  How unfair is that?

My boss is crazy for knitting with VHS tape. They started doing it at Parsons in the 70's, and he still adores the texture.

that is a really clever idea.   but, i'm going to be serious now.  i love spiceworld, i think it's a hilarious farce, and anything with alan cummings in it has to be good, in my opinion.  plus, i sing along.  (i totally bought the dvd version of it)

My boss is crazy for knitting with VHS tape. They started doing it at Parsons in the 70's, and he still adores the texture.

Emma told me at our knitting group Saturday that she'd thought about using audio tape, too! I think it would have been easier to knit because it's thinner... maybe as a fringe to video tape scarf? That could be a weird, wearable tribute to the digital age! The tape was a little tight to knit and "crunchy" is the only way I can describe it but it looks kind of glittery and jewel-like when it's done. And it's really easy at least with VHS because it's already on a spool and you keep pulling it out as you need it--no tangles! It's not really soft, so it would probably make a good purse like some of the other entries have done! Maybe I need to start working on the rest of our tapes!!

Hi, chemama and all.  I am new here, and I am very interested in knitting using video tape instead of yarn.  I realize this is a 2-year-old thread, but please repost your pictures here.  I want to see them.  Thanks.

Here's my submission: VHS tape knit in garter stitch on Size 15 straight needles. I don't think I've seen a project similar to this on Craftster, but if I have, thanks: all of you inspire me a lot!
