well batik is basicly drawing onto fabric with hot wax, then you can dye it/or paint dye on it, and the bits with wax on will not get dyed so will remain the colour of the fabric you began with, then you can add more wax if you want a bit of the fabric the new dyed colour and carry on and on and on, for as long as you want.
When you have finished you iron the wax off. putting your fabric between sheets of newspaper and ironing and regually changing the newpaper till all the wax has gone, but dont let the wax touch your iron!!
does that make sense? need any more info?

You can also put your fabric into a pot of water and boil the wax off (after dying it, of course).

Thanks for the ironing tip Shortie, I didn't know that.

It has an effect like tye-dye, but you have more control over where the dye goes.

check out the info on preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'www.DharmaTrading.com') - I got a beginners kit (haven't tried it yet) with everything included for a first timer (except fabric)

Thanks! What do you use to dye the fabric? Just regular dye or what?
