Okay...so I was watching Legally Blonde the other day cuz I'm a loser, and I absolutely LOVE that sparkly-type bathing suit Reese Witherspoon wears during several parts of the movie.  Here's a picture (sorry, I couldn't find any better ones):

Anyway, I wanted to make the same sort of thing only a halter top.  Any tips on sewing sequins (or at least I think they used sequins) and what material to use would be great!

As a blonde, I really love that movie. You could sew on all of the sequins by hand OR There is a fabric that has sequins in it. I don't really know how to describe it, but it is flat (duh, but no sequin textuer) and it has round sequin like discs in it. Sorry if i just confused you even more, but just look around and you'll know what im talking about.

^Haha no, I know what you're talking about, but I've had that material for tons of dance costumes and the sequins always fall off. =( I'll have to hand sew it, but I'm just not sure how.  But thanks anyways!

Scan thrift stores for old evening dresses made with real sequin fabric, the kind with sewn on sequins, and recycle the fabric. It will prob be easiest to hand sew the suit, but it will be so small anyway, it will be quick.

The greenish blue one there is the same kind I think. It's all sewn on by hand using normal ol' sequence. I haven't worn it in the pool and I don't plan to Smiley Cheesy

if you're planning on doing the sequins in one color, I'd recommend finding paillettes instead, they're bigger and less time consuming to sew on.. they look really cool too.. kind of mermaid ish
