I forgot to take before pictures! Oh, dear. Well, anyway.

I finally made good on my threat to make gladiator sandals - a crappy old pair of Old Navy flip-flops, some gold spraypaint, and a bit of rope later:

Hopefully the spraypaint won't give me cancer of the feet! (Er.) I'm considering supergluing in a cushy footpad to prevent prolonged exposure to the actual paint.

What do you all think?

i think those are suuuper cool!
seems like a really easy thing that i would never think of :-P
i dunno about spray paint- maybe advice for others would be
1 old navy sells gold flops now, crazy
2 use fabic paint or something else to cover the flops

really nice idea, you look like a grecian goddess

Thanks! I am obsessed with Greeks and Romans, so the idea's been flopping (ach, pun) around in my head for a bit. And yes, your advice is MUCH more sensible than my version Grin thanks again!

I don't really think the spray paint would be harmful unless you where getting chromy while you were spraying or you're planning on licking the shoes. cool.

oh, i almost forgot, you may want to avoid wearing them if you havea cut or graze or something on your foot, cos the paint could get into it and infect it. Im not completely sure about this, but i do know i read about this woman who wore some dyed flipflops and she had a cut on her foot and the dye infected it and ended up poisoning her leg and could have killed her and blah blah blah but she caught it and was alright in the end. Probs isnt relevant, but you never know  Smiley
