I love simple lined jackets, or "overshirts" as I like to call them.  I always  put unexpected linings in jackets, bags, pants (use a crazy, or not, patterned fabric on waistband facings and pockets,  so cute)  This is why I fell in love with this pattern.     It  is a slightly fitted "bolero" type jacket...no buttons, zips, or other closures, so easy!    Instead of using the facing pieces, I just used the front, side front, back, side back, and sleeve to make my new "overshirt".  I used a floral burgundy print for the outside, and a white striped burgundy for the lining.  Just follow the easy directions for making the jacket, and then do it again for the lining.  Then put the jacket and the lining right sides together and sew it up.    Reach in through one of the sleeves and turn right side out, fold in at the bottom edges of the sleeves, sew them up, and you're done! (Don't forget pressing at every step, this is what helps makes a garment look professional) I used a super lightweight cotton this time, for summer, but you can vary the fabric any which way.  Cord, denim, linen, suiting fabric...endless possibilities to go with any outfit.
