so, i've been lurking on here for a little while, and i finnally decided to join.
i made this skirt after being inspired by this post with tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=44683.0
i got the fabric on sale for $3 a yard at jo-anns and bought a 59 cent bag of like 800 gold sequens. the skirt took like 2 hours to make, but sewing on the sequens individually by hand took atleast 4-5 hours.

the fabric has a little bit of shimmer to it on parts of the pattern.
a couple of my friends spent like $70 for a solid colored skirt similar to this, which is just crazy. making your own is so much cheaper, and more fun!

btw, the sequens are only on the front half, and i used about 230 of them

wow, was that your first time sewing on sequins?
i have to tell you, i've been sewing for quite awhile
and have no real understanding exactly HOW you
sew on sequins!  that looks great and really dresses up
the already cute cotton fabric-
it's one of those skirts that you can now wear day or evening
b/c of the sequins.  great job!  Smiley

yeah, it's my first sequen sewing adventure. i have a skirt quite similar to the one i made, so i just looked to it to see how the sequens should be sewn. i drew a little diagram to show you how i did it. hope this helps!

Yes, thanks for the sequin explanation.  I love them.  I always thought they would be too complicated to do myself because I don't know jack about hand sewing, but this looks do-able.  I love the skirt, too.  Great way to make cotton dressy!

First you will come to the Sirens who enchant all who come near them. If any one unwarily draws in too close and hears the singing of the Sirens, his wife and children will never welcome him home again, for they sit in a green field and warble him to death with the sweetness of their song.
