Hey,
I just bought my yarn for the leaf pullover in the loop-d-loop book. It's also in an issue of Interweave knits
http://iwpshopinfo.interweave.com/Knits/2005newsletters/knitssummer2005projects.htm
Here's a link to a great FO in the completed projects section:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=48403.0
(I hope it's Ok to post a link to someone elses FO. If not someone let me know and I'll take it down)

I just started it last night and found I had a few questions already. I know a bunch of people have been admiring it for a while.. anyone want to take the plunge and join me in making it?
It will probably take me a while to really get started cause I'm moving right now and don't have much time for crafting, but a little knitting before bed just might take my mind off the fact that all my furniture has left my apartment Wink

I might be into this in the not too distant future. What yarn are you using? I can't find the yarn called for at any shop, and the only place I found it online was really expensive (like, $13 a skein when my comfort zone is, like, $7 or $8 if I'm feeling really fancy).

If I can find a nice substitution I'll join  Smiley

I'm using a ridiculously expensive yarn! Rowan plaid. It's a long story that involved a sale and buying yarn for a different project, but having to exchange it etc... It's beautiful yarn, but really really expensive.
My feeling is any bulky yarn would work.. check the gauge for Lamb's pride bulky for example. Although then you have to deal with scratchiness etc...

I just had a total "duh" moment where I realized I  can just go to elann.com and look up by weight there AND save money!

That sweater is great! I would like to try it.  It may be a bit difficult for me!  I need to finish up a few things first, also.

I just got some Rowan Plaid for the knock-around unisex pullover in Weekend Knitting. But I'm having lots of problems with it. Maybe I will frog it and start this. How many skeins did you get? And what color are you using? I really like this yarn but it is expensive. I found it four $10.00 a skein and that was a really good deal!

Wow 10$ a skein is great!!! It was 20$ a ball at my LYS and I got sucked into a 30% off sale. I know... that's so much money!!!!
If I use it on 13 needles and knit loosely I pretty much get the gauge called for. I'm trying to use just 6 balls for the medium. It's the blue/light blue/ purply colorway.
Are the problems with the yarn? At those prices I'm expecting the yarn to be PERFECT Wink

I don't think there are any problems with it at all. I found it at http://richesseonline.com/plaid.asp for $10.15 a skein. I think they are just not going to carry it anymore on that site. Everywhere else I found was at least $16.50- $18.00. So far it is perfect. I really love the softness of it.

This has been on my knit list for awhile and I think I'll be starting it pretty soon. I'm thinking about using Cascade 128 Bulky in a soft orange color.

I think I'm probably in on this one as the Union Square Market PUllover has scared me off. I can't start anytime soon though as I'm broke and have to wait until my job starts.  I love the color but I"m not sure that I could wear it myself.
