6. This is for my people - Missy Elliot
7. Listen to your heart (techno remix) - DHT
8. Milkshake Remix - Kellis
9. Rez Cowgirl - Underworld
10. Booty Call Dance

Thanks a ton dukeslax44!! Smiley

The only thing I'm having a problem with is, that the CD is skipping a lot... it might be my computer, and I'll resurface the CD later tonight. Kinda funny (especially with the superman song "Me Tarzan..Jane") I hope I can fix it!

AWSOME!  THank you!

i'm glad you're liking it, but i'm sorry you're having problems!

that's so wierd, cause i made myself a copy, and it's been fine. let me know if you continue to have problems, and i can send you another copy. or, if you want, i can put all the songs on yousendit.com, and you could download them and burn it yourself. maybe i did something wrong? i was having so many computer issues when i made that, the cd booklet took me hours of fighting with margins in a word file!

i was seriously starting to suspect that my postman was stealing my mail (i'm not a patient girl) but i got my package from acesulfamek this morning! It was too exciting for words! Not only did she burn me a cd with an impressive number of songs with washington in the title; but I also got a tin of Washington Monument(al) Mints, a fab rundown of local music in washington (which i really appreciated. it was really interesting) and a copy of interweave's knit magazine (which i can't get anywhere in my city). I nearly swooned with joy!

Rest assured anything i knit from that magazine (i have my eye on at least 4 projects right now) will be renamed the washington jumper/ bag/ cardigan/ whatever.

I can't post photos unfortunately, because my mummy dearest took the digital camera with her on holidays. So if you have some, acesulfamek feel free to post them. But here's a tracklist.

1. "Washington DC" by Teacher & the Rockbots (which reminded me that i studied Jefferson's Montecello and the washington memorial in first year art history!)
2. "Spider in the Snow" by the Dismemberment Plan
3. "Straight Edge" by Minor Threat
4. "The Washington Post" by John Phillip Sousa
5. "Small Man, Big Mouth" by Minor Threat
6. "The District Sleeps Alone" by the Postal Service
7. "Washington Bullets" by the Clash
8. "Saved your Life" by Army of Me
9. "State of the Union" by Thievery Corporation
10. "Epic Problem, Fugazi
11. "Pieces of Me", Rare Essence
12. "If You Own the Washington Redskin You're a Cock" by Atom and his Package (at my uni there's a weekly newsletter distributed  that's half satire half ads about what's on on campus called the Silver Guilder. Every week the editor picks a satire theme. This week's is the offensiveness of the name Redskins.... bizarre coincidence, considering i've never seen the silver guilder concern itself with anything non-australian before).
13. "Banned in DC", Bad Brains
14. "Pop the Trunk", Thunderball
15. "And the Washington Monument Blinks Goodnight", Q and not U
16. "The City", The Dismemberment Plan
17. "Washington, DC", The Magnetic Fields

I'm glad you liked it.

That's very funny about the Redskins coincidence.  It's been a low-level thing here for a number of years.  Other places are changing thier Native-American-named teams, particularly at the college level but also professional, so there is now some momentum telling the Redskins to change the name.  The song's a few years old, though.

I can't wait to see a "Washington Jumper"!  Just please, nothing with red-white-and-blue stripes or something.

my washington jumper will most likely be the greek jumper renamed Roll Eyes or even more likely that it will be the teva durham jacket. in scungy brown tweedy stuff instead of blue chenille.
No red white and blue at all. Promise. Yuck. (although those are also the colours of the australian flag i associate them more with america. damn your cultural colonialisation!)

i'd never really listened to the be good tanyas much before, but i'm really enjoying them, and i love that song because, really, who HASN'T ended up drunk on robson street at some point in their lives.... or maybe that's just me! and i love the mention of the night clubs, because i instantly picture all the terrifying straight bars like the roxy, etc, on granville, and the lyrics are so perfect! they really are obscene!

and i love love love po'girl. po'girl and rae spoon are probably my alltime favourites. (which is a far cry from the punk and goth i spent years listening to!) and corner talk is such a beautiful song, the first time i saw allison russell perform it i was at the east van cultural centre, sitting right at the back, and i just sat there and bawled. there's actually a video of that same performance here - http://www.tractorgrease.com/video/#pg

Anyone else still waiting for the mailman to bring your CD to you? Just wondering if I'm the only one.
