Hmm, a bookbag embroidered/painted/somehow embellished with medical stuff like anatomical hearts, digestive systems, etc.?   Since he's going to college, he almost HAS to need a bookbag sometime or another.  Embroidery floss is pretty cheap, as long as you don't need a lot of colors.  Some of his favorite foods IN the bookbag?

I thought about a bookbag, too. Only problem is that he's got his from back in middle school and he's in love with it, despite how dingy it is. He wouldn't give it up, no matter how much I tried to convince him he needs a new one.  Undecided It's a good idea though... I might do something like it anyway, but I'm not sure.

ok. so i have a dilemna.
christmas is coming up (yeah, like 2 months, but i want to get on it now)
i just dont know what to do for the boy!
i want to make him something, but just dont know what.
heres what he has already that i made:
a star wars quilt
matching pillows (to the star wars quilt)
a scrapbook that covers all of high school through feb 2007 -which i keep adding pages to, but we havent had any pictures together since february (yeah, lame i know!)
a bleached donnie darko shirt
a sweatshirt with thumbholes added in

and he is getting the donnie darko two disk soundtrack this year for christmas (its his favorite movie, i got him the director's cut last year for christmas)

heres what he's into:
he's a smoker
just turned 19 years old
enjoys video games
and computer stuff (i called him "my nerd")
isnt in school right now (is concidering joining the airforce  Sad)
works at baskin robins.
and thats all i can think of right now. wow.

we've been together for a year and eight months
have known each other since we were 13

i thought about making him a t-shirt quilt
(and will eventually. prob when we're married so i can take them that way. lol)
but dont know how to yank shirts from him.
and which one's he's emotionally attatched to.

he will be getting pj pants on christmas eve (its a tradition in my family, and he got a pair last year)

He doesn't have to give up the old one.  This one could be a back up (or the main, and the other one can be a back up), for when he's gotten soaked in the rain, or accidentally puts it down on something disgusting, or whatever.  Or it could be specifically for one class, so if he has one on a day by itself, he doesn't have to go searching through the rest of his stuff to get ready (obviously, this is dependent on the situation).

Just something to think about.

Or could you somehow patch up the old one so it doesn't fall apart?  Put a new lining in, sew any holes up, that sort of thing?

Bookmarks,  storage bags/boxes for either the games, the trains, the models or accessories for any of the above. Cold suggests blankets, gloves, fingerless gloves (for when he's working on models), hats, scarves, socks, or one of those hand warmer/cup cozies that was in the featured project list recently.

This entire thread makes me feel horrible. We've been going out for 6 months now, 8 when Christmas rolls around.
Let's see. . .my boyfriend is always hot! I'm the cold one. Therefore, no need for hats, gloves, mittens, or blankets.
There's only 1 picture of us, a really bad cell phone picture.
We're only in high school, so I don't feel comfortable about the whole boxers/pj pants thing.
He's been using the same backpack and wearing the same baseball hat for forever, but he loves them, so I don't think I can replace them.
He likes the Longhorns, video games, his trombone (the instrument, dirty minded!) and rocks (yes, rocks rocks. Like geodes. Don't ask how I know that.) I don't know. He's just really hard to buy for.  Huh

That leaves?
