Those of you in northern va might also want to check out the dc city guides as well, as I think I've mentioned some places in Nova in there.  There is a Michael's just kind of South of Old Town Alexandria -- if you stay on route 1 and go down a bit, towards/near the Huntington Metro.  There is also a Lowe's.

The other day I went to a Joann's fabric store near 7 corners.  There was a Michaels in the same strip mall area.  It was great!! I couldn't find what I wanted at Joann's and just left and walked a few doors over to Michael's.

I wish there were stores like this in DC, but there are not really, so I go down to Va.

That 7 corners location is the Michael's I usually go to, because it's close by for me...but more often I find that I'm at Joann's because Michael's doesn't have what I need.  Wink  Actually, I've had a lot more success on ebay and ordering from other web sites than I have there.  I need to check out the AC Moore at Bailey's Xroads one of these days, but lately I just haven't been up for the drive.   Smiley

Stars beads in Vienna is really nice if you are looking for anything to do with beading or jewelry making. I love the quilting patch in Fairfax for fabric, I bought pieces to make several small sewing projects. As far as Michael's stores go the Sterling location is very nice... and big.

- anyone know of any crafter clubs or groups in Northern VA?

Wish I did...Let me know if you find any.  (I'll post info here if I do.)  Meetup.com has a Craft Sellers meetup, but as of now there aren't enough members for meetings.

As for the 7-Corners shopping center, it also has an ultra-swanky-hardcore-fabulous G Street fabrics on the other side from Michaels. Definitely the best fabric store in a 50 mile radius!

The best G Street is in Rockville, and all of the locations are having a sale starting on the 17th of June!  25% off all fabrics!
