Pajama bottoms are the easiest way to go without going out and buying a separate pattern.  This is what we do for Theater. The trick is to sew your casing for the elastic in before you sew up the legs.  We even sew the elastic in before sewing up the legs.

make extra wide pj's, like the full width of your fabric, just use the inseam part of your pattern and the fold of the cloth for the outsides.

i suppose i will try.

would you guys use some seam binding on the inside of the bottom part for the elastic? what is another way i could put the elastic in without totally sewing it directly on the fabric (i'm not a super good sewer)? i want it to be elasticy about 3 inches from the bottom of the bloomers.

thankfully the fabric i cut up was only 1.99 a yard, and i wasn't in love with the stuff anyway. i'm going to be a creepy patchwork doll for halloween (think sally, but my own version, and more baby doll-esque), and i just want plain black, just below the knee bloomers.

Seam Binding is perfect to use as a casing for the elastic.
