That's right! A "Chicken Viking Hat" Style Hat is now available in crochet, adult size. I am currently working on mapping out the pattern while I make my second one. I kind of just made up the pattern on the first one. (I've communicated with the [very nice!] author of the Knit Baby CVH pattern, and there's no copyright concerns with her for posting, tutorials, and pattern distribution, etc., I checked first.)  The original CVH, in case you have not seen it, Is baby sized, and is located here: http://www.alohamedia.net/sarah/hats/chicken-viking/

I must say, I do still like the looks of her version better, at this point, and am already planning some changes to the next one I make...

Enjoy the pics, and Tutorial coming soon, if anyone would like it...

I've decided to enter this thing in the fair, give the old ladies something to laugh about, and perhaps inspire impressionable young future-crafters! So I'll have to take a lot of measurements, because it means that I have to be without it starting tomorrow.. eek!  **** UPDATE:  I won a blue ribbon for it at the fair.. yaaaay. Everyone else got a blue ribbon, too.. haha! *****

HOLY CRAP I WORE THIS IN PUBLIC:  Updated 3/9/08: I went skiing at Crystal Mountain, WA, and caused quite a scene with my hat! I got LOTS of comments, especially from staff who've "seen it all, but...." and got lots of amused smiles and points from little tots and adults alike. It was so fun! I felt like a geeky celebrity.

lol!
