It feels like AGES since last i posted.. and crafted!!
school leaves you no time to craft...  Tongue
now back to what you've been waiting for...

the FIRST bag is one i made in beggining of july before summer school chem begins.. as a book bag! i love the fabrics and the pink material i bought at goodwill was a perfect match!! one big flaw is that the upholstery fabric i thought to have been stiff enough.. wasnt!

c'est la bag.. :

it holds stuff well but it's a bit to flobby...

2nd story:
so yesterday i decided to go to craftster.org and saw some amazing hobo bags that gave me a craft impulse! i rummaged through some fabric scraps and found some perfect fabrics and zipper.  Unlike the previous bag which was planned through, measured and took about three days to make, i just winged it on this purse and was thought through after each step.  and i *heart* the results!!

VOILA!

Comments and criticism are appreciated!

very nice. I especially like your hobo bag.  I just started sewing yesterday, in fact, and am now hooked on it.  I think I'llmake a hobo bag like yours with a really cute dress taht no longer fits. Thanks for the inspiration!

Ooh, I would so like to have that kind of a book bag - just the thing I've been searching for the last *em..* two or three months. Maybe you could post a tute Wink? (School starts in 20 days here, so I'd have the time to actually make it, egoist me, always thinking about me, myself and I Grin)

I love that book bag! I really like the dimensions and the handles compliment the fabric well. The pink on the other side of the lace is a nice touch  Grin

I made a bag just for my books (because i am a library-whore) and put a piece of cardboard at the bottom between the interfacing and lining.. it works GREAT! just an idea for anyone else making one Smiley
anyway that book bag is really cute.. I love how the handles on your bags don't seem to ever end.

OMG...I love your book bag...its so great...I would love to make a bag like that...but I just can't figure out how to sew the top on with the zipper....would you possibly be able to explain or a little tutorial ...maybe!!! Do you have raw edges on the inside or is it fully lined?

Great job

well i couldn't exactly say i put forth my fullest efforts into making the first bag althought it was mostly planned through.  i did line the bag but i didn't use the "leave a hole and pull inside-out" method, so the lining is very, ehemm, "unprofessional looking" because i basically sewed on the lining fabric to the outer fabric before i did everything else, so you can see all the sewing stitches of the ribon, pocket etc. inside.  i just serged the rought endes on the inside and the zipper was basically left undone.  here's a pic incase everything i just said is a ball of jumble in your head:

yes! good idea
actually i realized that the bag was flobby AFTER i completed it, so i did put cardboard inside after (not sewn in, just sitting at the bottom of the bag) but it didn't really work out, so it had to be discarded  Undecided i guess i could add another layer of fabric and sew the cardboard in.. but as lazy person i am, i'll never get to it! alrighty then, i guess if you STILL want the semi-unprofessional looking bag, i'll try my best to create my first tut ever! you may modify it if you want because it probably won't be the most functional bag

be back in a week or so!! (haha j/k the tute might take a while tho so be patient!) Smiley

Help! I'm having trouble posting the tute!
I cut my tute into pieces and saved then separately (because it was too big) and tried posting the pics but they came out shrunken looking.  I save my images on photobucket.com and when I look at the pics in the site it's fine, but when I post them here it shrinks itself...

for example:

for those who want the tute now here's a cut up version in links:
Tute 1: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute1.jpg
Tute 2: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute2.jpg
Tute 3: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute3.jpg
Tute 4: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute4.jpg
Tute 5: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute5.jpg
Tute 6: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/hana0205/Tute6.jpg
(make sure you enlarge the images after the new link pops up)

it's not very convenient but it's all I have for now... Sad

I actually made a tutorial (as you can see in the title..) but had some problems with being able to see the picture files clearly, not small and squished.  you can see them in the second page (i think..)
it is still kinda weird looking but if you can bear with the poor quality, it might be able to help you out  Smiley
