Hi, fellow craftsters!! Smiley I came up with a neat--or so I think--idea for a craftalong. The idea behind it is that we make a different piece of houseware/home decor each month for various rooms in our house/apartment. So, here's my plan.

ALSO, just so you're aware, you only have to do one thing in each month, unless you wish to do more than one. Smiley

Also, I added June...it's outdoorsy!

Sept: Room- Kitchen

-Magnets
-Hand-towels {spice up with embrodiery Smiley}
-Frosted glass wear
-Pot holders
-Aprons

Oct:

-Candles/Candle-holders
-Potpourri or herb pouches.
-Incense
-Incense holders

Nov:

-Coasters
-Placemats
-Trays

Dec:

-Some kind of organizational tool {shelves, baskets, whatever you want Smiley}
-Message boards (great for reminders or working out logic/math problems)
-Dry erase calender
-Mail organizer
-Boxes

Jan:

-Sign {like a 'welcome' one for your front door, or a 'keep out' for your bedroom. any kind that you wish.}
-General door decorations {picture, wreath, etc}

Feb:

-Blanket
-Scarve
-Heat pad
-Pillows

March:

-Plant holder of any kind
-Decorate a vase
-Create fake flower arrangements

April: Room: Bathroom

-Shower curtain
-Rug
-Tissue box/loo roll covers
-Toothbrush holder
-Countertop jewelry holder
-Shower curtain rings
-Embroider or other wise decorate hand towels
-Make soaps/lotions/bath salts/oils
-Light switch cover

May: Organizational Tool for something in your kitchen

-Spice rack/holders
-Silverware caddy/utensil holders (like racks, or big jugs)
-Decorate sugar/flower canisters
-Recipe book/card holder

June: Things for your Yard

-Plants
-Decorate citronella candles
-Windchimes
-Grill cover
-Out door seat cushions
-Little garden decorations

And those are all the months that I am planning to do this for, since those are the months I"m going to be in college. If anyone had any ideas for the other months, just let me know!

I look forward to starting!! Smiley

*For everyone else's suggestions, thanks veeery much!!*

*FYI: Reminders will be sent out each and every 19th of each month!*

I'm definitely in too.  I bought those cute little Aunt Martha teapot patterns w/ the faces....and I bought sublime stitching I Love Veggies to embroider on an apron.........so this will help hold me accountable for getting it done!    My plain old dishtowels are begging for some cute little teapots.  Smiley

I'm interested in this, but what exactly is a craft a long?  Do you do the same project and then post what you did?  Do you send anything?

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!

kjtalula:

A craft-a-long is when a group of people all make the same craft that is designated.

Ex: In this craftalong, we'll all be making the types of things I've picked out for the months listed.

No, you don't anything. You might be thinking of swaps...which are also uber. Smiley

Yep, you're exactly right....we all do the same type of project, then post pictures and share what we each made with our fellow craftsters!

Chelsea:

Yea, I was thinking that my towels needed spiced up a bit, lol.

Yay! I <3 housewares!  My friends think it's weird I'd rather buy a cooking magazine than a girly cosmo one hehe.

Great idea...only my second post, but I'm in! I need a good excuse to do non-knitting crafts.  Smiley

I had a couple of "other ideas" for the bathroom:
- tissue box/loo roll covers
- toothbrush holder
- countertop jewelry holder

...if they're still needed! I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing everyone's stuff.
