Pin-up Girls Coasters... (with easy Tutorial link!)

I made these coasters for the Pin-up Girls Swap, and absolutely love them because a) they were really easy to make and b) you can pretty much use any picture you want (including photos - which would make an awesome gift!!)

This is the cover of the box for the first set of coasters (hooray for silly puns!!):


To make your own set of coasters, grab a set of existing coasters - I used cork-backed ones, some clear duraseal (clear sticky-backed book-covering), double-sided sticky tape and some pictures.

Cover the pictures with duraseal, cover the backs with double-sided sticky tape, cut the pictures out the same shape as the coasters, then stick them on the coasters.

To clean the coasters - wipe them with a damp cloth. DO NOT immerse them in water or they will probably fall apart, and do not put anything really hot on them or the duraseal might melt.

I just googled them, resized them, then printed them off. They're a little grainer and more washed out than magazine pictures are, but they still look pretty good.

This is the best idea ever, so I decided to make some too  . Only thing is that I was using a bad kind of glue, so I totally messed up one so I had to redo that..

The pics are organized by artist, and are listed as 'classic' and 'contemporary,'  of course these coasters are the 'classic' style (which i just adore by the way!).  I'm sure you could find hundreds of other sites by just googling 'pin-up girls' or 'classic pin-up girls' but this site is a great place to start  ~beth

no problem.... its a fabulous site and so are your coasters!  I'm inspired to make some for myself and a friend.  I'm trying to decide on what material to use though.  premade coasters, cork board, glass or tiles (like bathroom tiles)... decisions, decisions  ~beth

i love these SOOO MUCH!! i wanna make some with suicide girls, but i have a few questions...
instead of duraseal (cause i can't find it for the life of me) could I use mod podge?? also, did you just print the pictures out on plain paper??

Yes I printed them out on normal plain printer paper, and I'm pretty sure I've seen some coasters on here that are modge-podged, so I don't see why you couldn't use that instead.

probably because of the printer/ink used, but i tried to use mod podge on some pictures i printed once ( i wanted to make stickers for a swap ) but it only ended up smearing the ink all over the page beware of crap paper/ink/printers!

If you use mod-podge, be sure to use some kind of lacquer/sealant at the end. I used a spray lacquer on a mod-podged paper table top recon, and haven't had any problems yet.
