The girl on MTV's Made wore one to her prom. She was trying to be homecoming queen. She made it.

There's a guy named Steve Smith who created a character called Red Green. (I think the Red Green Show is on PBS in the States...Maybe others like the Comedy Network?) He devotes an entire portion of the show to his idiotic fix-it projects (like the "go-anywhere" beer cooler where he duct tapes a fridge to the top of an old car..."why take a six-pack, when you can take a fridge-load?" (can't remember what he uses for a power source -- something toxic, no doubt).
He is forever trying to build newer and more outrageous gadgets: all of them featuring the beloved duct tape (His motto: "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."). There is a whole section on the website devoted to interesting duct tape items fans have made and sent in.
(I just double-checked that link; that very cool duct tape gallery still has a few things in it, but it's basically a product endorsement for 3M. On a more cheerful note: they've just released transparent duct tape!!)  Shocked
Duct Tape Tales:
Friend of mine just told me about two friends whose canoe split in HALF in the middle of a canoe trip. They duct-taped the thing back together and safely finished their trip!
