suede + water = disaster

I have never had a problem with wasing suede. I have a suede jacket fleec lined and i've thrown it in the washer and dryer more than a dozen times (or much more I think). I have always purchased old seude or leather  coats to use as fabric but I just absoutely cannot handle cigarette smell (You might as well kill me cause I just can't take it) so I put them in the washer and dryer sometimes twice and it comes out just fine. I have owned this one jacket that I bought for .99 cents because it had a broken zipper but it was stained something awful. I did wash it several times to begin with. But I still have it andhave worn this jacket for seven years now and I still love it.
If you are really worried about it I suggest you buy a cheap suede jacket and test it out for yourself. It might feel very stiff when yo take it from the washer but it definately does soften up. I guess I should qualify this post by saying it has always worked for me!
