Here are two of my projects. I just started doing mosaics a few months ago. I have some training in stained glass, so that helped. I've done some projects with broken china and other pottery, but really like the depth of color in glass. What do you think?

This is my very first project...it's a mirror, and it measures about 18" bt 24".

This is one of my more recent projects - a wooden cigar box. It measures 7" square on top, and is about 2" deep. The sides are turquoise too. The hinges and clasp are brass.

Tips on getting started? I would suggest checking a few mosaic books out from the library. Read about the process. Look the designs over, and decide if you're excited by it. If you are, I'd suggest copying a design out of the book; a simple one at first, and recreating it.

Or...you can find old tiles or plates and break them. Just start gluing the pieces on your surface and see where you go. Buy some grout in a color you like and follow the dirsctions. You'll be amazed at what you can do and how great your project will look when completed.

Good luck!
