would anybody be interested in organizing and or participating in a swap of a lunchbox (plastic or tin/new or used/self decorated or as is) filled with trinkets... treats...crafts...momentos...perhaps themed having to do with whatever picture/theme is depicted on the lunchbox??

I would LIKE to organize it myself... but am just aweful at organizational skills... but I am willing to give it a go if nobody else wants to, but would still like to participate.....

any ideas....?

I really like this idea!  I'm organizing my first swap right now, but if it goes well, I'd be up for tackling this one next.  And I'd love to participate if anyone else wants to start it up, too.  Lunchboxes are awesome!

Please check the guidelines for organizing a swap before you get started:  http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html

Velveteenhabbit, you're not qualified yet to organize a swap.  Someone who is qualifed could start it, though.

Please PM with questions.

This sounds like fun! I can head this up if you would like. I wont start until you are "old" enough ok. You can also help me if you want to. Think of some questions you want to ask or some guidelines to set up. Only if you want to though.                happy crafting   erica

would we pick out the lunch box we want to get crafted for ... or does our partner surprise us? it could be set up like the fave kids book swap i was in. you send out the lunch box to your partner, and they send it back to you with all the crafted goodies.

It sounds like so much fun! I have heaps of ideas swimming 'round in my head right now. I'm not qualified to be an organiser either, but if someone's willing to step up to the plate, just give a hollor and I'll sign up right way!

Oh, one question, what TYPE of lunch box are we talking about? I know that in some countries, you get the bigger, chunkier, metal ones that could fit in food and a bottle of some description, but in others, a lunch box really just means the stuff you put the food in, like the tiered variety they have in some asian countries. As there could be a significant difference in sizes (and amount of stuff that can be put into the lunchbox), I was just curious.  Wink

I need a lunch box badly!!! I think we should just stick to the good old plastic boxes.  They have a drink bottle and there is room for a banana and a sandwich and maybe a bag of chips. About 10in by 9 in by 6 in.  so maybe we could all stick to that size and a price limit.  I don't know how much they cost though...any help? Maybe the cost of the lunch box + $5.... if this is ok then I can start sign ups the first week of sept and mail by the end of sept. lemmie know!!
Happy Crafting!!

I know I saw plain metal ones at Michael's. That's kinda what I thought of when I saw this. Plus the new plastic ones are going to be more expensive.

I have gone to 3 walmarts and found 0! I ask and everything.  I think we will have to do something else.

How much are the plain metal ones at michael's? That might be what to do. Thanks Sweetttart3!

I think they were $6, but they were a little on the small side, so the thermos would be out.

Crap I don't know then.  Right now I am using a canvas bag I got from Hobby Lobby for 2.99 it is big enough to hold my water bottle and tons of snacks. I plan on tie-dyeing it soon.  So maybe we could do a lunch bag swap, or go ahead with the metal one from michaels. Where I am we have a 40% off coupon in the paper every sunday we could use those for the metal box. $6 is a bit much especially if they are small. It is up for disscussion.

Just a thought, but why not make it so that there is no particular guide lines on what kind of lunch box to make. We could just get our partner's preferences and go from there. That way if I get someone who does want a plastic one, I can begin to scour the earth to look for one then, but maybe someone else would prefer a metal one. Plus that leaves you open to other options, like your canvas sack, or even a pencil case ( I used that in HS). I think it leaves more room for creativity. Again, just a thought since it's not my swap, and I'm in no matter what is decided.

I like what Sweetttart3 said.  Maybe leaving it up to your partner would be the best idea.

Question.... any kinds of guide lines for what is going in the lunch boxes?  I would totally do it =)

It has to be an official swap first. Right now its basically just an idea. You might want to check out all the qualifications for swapping and everything so you know how they work.
