This morning, I woke up with the idea of adding buttons to one of my skirts to give it a little class. It was just a plain 'ol grey A-line skirt, but now...

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a90/fkilbourn/buttonskirt.jpg

Here is a close up of the skirt:

And I added some buttons to a black shirt to complete the outfit:

Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy...trying to figure out the new camera.

That's a really cool idea! I love the button colors you chose & the grouping. I once did something like that on a tote bag, it didn't look nearly as good though!

Ooh, original idea. At first I thought, "how good could it really look just by adding buttons?" but I'm impressed, and it still looks classy enough for office/job interview wear. Nice.

That's awesome!  I love the skirt.  It's classy enough to wear to work, yet very cool.  The grouping looks great.  Great job!

Ooh, neat. Really cute, and kudos for patience because doing buttons takes so long. Very classy.

I really like the layered effect you've got going on with the skirt. I've discovered that everybody loves random buttons on random things lately!

The layered look on the buttons was definitely what I was going for. I wore it the other day to an award ceremony. Yay!

Thank you. I was inspired by a Martha Stewart Living article that I tore out two years ago and a pair of jeans that delia*s is selling right now. But Anthropologie makes it sound more sophisticated.  Wink

Excellent job!
Did you add some kind of interfacing to support the weight of the buttons? They seem to be "floating" on the fabric, not weighing it down at all.

No, I didn't think about the weight of the buttons. Maybe it turned out okay because the fabric on the skirt is kind of heavy.

I would love to do this with huge, colorful, funky buttons.  It's so simple that it seems obvious, but it looks so good.
