This morning, I woke up with the idea of adding buttons to one of my skirts to give it a little class. It was just a plain 'ol grey A-line skirt, but now...

That's a really cool idea! I love the button colors you chose & the grouping. I once did something like that on a tote bag, it didn't look nearly as good though!

The layered look on the buttons was definitely what I was going for. I wore it the other day to an award ceremony. Yay!

Thank you. I was inspired by a Martha Stewart Living article that I tore out two years ago and a pair of jeans that delia*s is selling right now. But Anthropologie makes it sound more sophisticated.

that is the cutest embellishment idea i've seen in forever! i collect all these vintage buttons...i buy them at swap meats and garage sales and they just keep adding up...you've inspired me to use them.

Did you add some kind of interfacing to support the weight of the buttons? They seem to be "floating" on the fabric, not weighing it down at all.

No, I didn't think about the weight of the buttons. Maybe it turned out okay because the fabric on the skirt is kind of heavy.

i love buttons. looks great. i have a whole drawer of antique buttons my grandmother gave me. the drawer is actually from an olf sewing machine which makes it even cooler
