"Tears are the orgasm of laughter!"

I made this baby sweater in about 4-5 hours. When I gave it away at the baby shower everyone frieked out - I was surprised, since it was so quick to knit - but people really appreciated a hand knit gift.

This is a good project for beginners to learn some new stitches and experience knitting a sweater "top down".

Here is the pattern: http://d-made.com/knitting/patterns/Quickie_Baby_Sweater.pdf

There are also matching booties and a bonnet - but I thought that would be a little overboard for doing this the night before.

Here is an alternate pattern link: http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/kp3.html

This pattern is an old classic - I don't know it's origin...

I love it! The colour is so pretty, what yarn did you use?

i'm unfamiliar with that yarn. is it bulky or worsted weight? it looks bulky, but that may just be because the sweater is so small.

This is really super cute!!!  I think your choice of yarn and color makes all the difference though. Usually this pattern is always shown in some cheapo acrylic, and it doesn't look half as nice..!
But now you've inspired me, I'm going to print that pattern again   have just printed out your pattern and will  try to knit some for the next babies coming around..!
Thanks!

girl? eh, i'm tempted to make that in green cotton for my friend who had a boy. so the pattern's a little fluffy. i'm sure the baby wouldn't care.

Awesome sweater and THANK YOU for the pattern/link!  I have been looking for quick knits for babies since they seem to be popping up all over the place.  Everyone seems to expect that I will knit something (and why wouldn't I) but to spend SO LONG on a teeny little sweater for the son of a distant cousin seems a bit much.  YAY quick knits using worsted on bigger needles!!!

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.
