Yup, on August 6th a local bar in our town is having a bikini contest in which you can win actual dough.  The catch: the garments have to be entirely homemade.  Given where we live it's sure to be painfully funny as it's a kind of diy culture out here 24/7, 365.  I haven't actually decided whether or not I have the cajones to enter (probably not), but I thought I'd field ideas that could be whipped up quickly.

Anyone?  Bueller?

I'll be going no matter what just for the entertainment factor so if I see any truly inovative ideas I'll pass them on.

Homemade?  now is that fabric or seeds,  beads.   Maybe lettuce.  Poptabs. Paper. Crochet, knit. Plastic laundry jugs. Popcans.

Coma_Girl, when I read your "popcan" idea at first I thought it said popcorn.  Now that would be a site, all strung up like a Christmas tree... Although it probably wouldn't do good under water...

I made a bikini once entirely out of faces cut from glamour magazines.  Sadly, I live in SLC, UT and am unable to attend said contest.

The Oakland Museum (California) had an exhibit several years ago that was all about trash/recycling.  Among the many, many cool items, there was a bikini made out of budweiser cans.  The cans were cut so there were flat pieces to work with then, I guess, holes punched all around then they were kind of crocheted together.  I guess it made an impression on me tho' I can't remember the total specifics.

(The wedding dress made entirely out of underclothes, complete with veil and train, were pretty cool too...)

Good luck!  I hope you come up with something great and win big!
