I know I'm a bit late to offer my two cents...but my Mom did a similar variation to this one year for Christmas ornaments.

She took the lids from frozen juice containers (after taking the cardboard off) then punched bells, wreaths, Christmas  trees, etc. into them and then strung them up with some ribbon.  It was a fun look, especially when we placed them in front of the lights on the tree...then they were different colors! Cheesy
