I know I knwo I am a littel early fro Halloween, But I am a planner and I am planning my boys 3rd annual Halloween party, I start getting everything together now so the week of and day of I am stress free.  I am almost ready to start my menu  of things I want to make to eat.  Granted this is for a bunch of 3 year olds and Kindergardeteners  sssssso I have yet to go extra gross on them yet, that comes in a  few years.

This is what I have made the past few years so I need somethign new to add to do instead of:

I have done Mummy dogs ( hot dogs wrapped in strips of crosscents to look like Mummies)
Spider, bat, and witches hat cupcakes fileld with green slime (green Nilla pudding)
Bug juice (original gatorade ina  glass bowl filled with plastic bugs frozen in ice)
Witches brew (lime sherbert with ginger ale and dry ice)
I did a big giant worm sandwich last year made with pillsburry croissents and stuffed with salami and ham and cheeses and baked
Dirt cake graveyard

I need ideas for something else that younger kids won't be too grossed out but gross enough for the 5-6 year old boys to really get into.

Also looking for ideas of dood that could resembel something gross, like peeled grapes as eyeballs.

I guess I can put this in the Halloween thread too but I will just start here.

My daughter has a late October birthday, so we do a Halloween theme every year for her birthday.

Cake:  If you bake 2 bundt cakes and stack them, bottoms together, it looks just like a pumkin, use a ho-ho for the stem and cut out the face and leaves from fruit roll-ups...it can be as cute or scary as you like.

Critters:  snack size candy bars with licorice legs and m&m eyes...

Boogers on a stick:  cheese whiz, with green food coloring, put out pretzel sticks to dip into the boogers! (really looks like snot!)

Carmel apples can be a little messy for really young children, but you can put out a few for decorations and then put out apple chunks with carmel dip

Witches:  put a scoop of ice cream on a 2 inch cookie of your choice, put a sugar cone on top of the ice cream, decorate with icing, licorice, candies, to make a witch face with the cone being the hat.

party mix:  peanuts, pretzels, m&m, candy corn, min ritz crackers, raisins, etc

There are some great ideas for any category (dessert, main dishes, snacks, etc) at the kraft foods website, just search for Halloween...good luck!

they are super yummy and creepy looking.
once in lemme think... grade 4 i tried to give one to my friend who had just moved here from china and he wouldn't eat it because he thought it was an actual finger, so my friend and i demonstrated that they were edible.

You could make deviled eggs and get some red food coloring to make them look like bloody eyes.
Green or red food coloring to most anything will give it a spooky touch.
Red pudding in little skull containers would be cute too. I know you can get a lot of stuff from oreiental trading co. for pretty cheap (for decorations/accessories/candy).

You guys are great though I am getting tons of ideas.  Thanks.

My friend's co-worker showed me a recipe that she calls green stuff that might useful. Its not incredibly healthy, but her kids love it and literally run into the kitchen when they hear their mom is making green stuff.

The recipe is basically:
Make two cartoons worth of pistachio flavored jello pudding
Add about 4-6 cups of cool whip and beat everything together with shredded pineapple.

The resulting mix should be very green and fluffy.

I was thinking maybe you could use that as frosting on a cake. Just spread the stuff on thick and form peaks with a spreading knife on a rectangular cake so that it looks like grass Cheesy and then maybe you can make a few sugar cookies (coated with a darker frosting) that were shaped like hands or feet, and stick them in the cake so that it could look like a zombie is trying to get out of the "grass".

Another interesting idea that she does is freeze the green stuff into popsicles and then use candy like chocolate chips or twizzlers to make faces on the popsicle.
