i'm moving in with my boyfriend in a couple months and the apartment we'll have has a forest green carpet and white walls.  we have dark wood furniture otherwise and navy couches.  he doesn't want to slipcover the couches and i can't do anything with the carpet.  i can paint the walls as long as its a light enough color to easily paint over.  so, what color should i paint the walls and what else can i do to make the room cute.  our tastes are vintage/retro and most of our decorations are halloween related.  i don't want our place to look like a country cottage, but with those colors, it's gonna be tough!

i would really appreciate any suggestions!  thanks for reading!

Forest Green and Navy...
How about touches of turquoise, lime and chartreuse?  Graphic pillows, fabric for curtains, funky vases, and maybe some painted frames for art?  Then you'll be working with the colors you have to use, but it'll seem freshened up.  Maybe green walls?  Not acid-bright green, but a softer, lighter muted shade to just complement the other colors and work as a backdrop.

A green, blue and white Bold stipe or retro print for curtains and couch pillows.  Then to tie in  the halloween, add some orange plushy pillows.  The orange should make the dark tones pop.

I love the first one.  That's exactly the kind of thing I had in mind!

Not sure if you're still looking for color suggestions, but my new house has two living rooms that are right off of one another.  The front room is a forest green color and the second room is a navy blue color.  Both rooms have hardwood floors and I added touches of bright red in both rooms to tie them together and it looks great.

Good luck!

And hoping for an early death you swam so far you lost your breath, and struggling in the ebb and flow I took your hand, but you let go...
And now the ocean fills your lungs, and now you've got what you had come for, resting peaceful as you sink to drown under a sea of strangers.
