I think those are ugly but you did a good job, it seems like taking the name of Chuck Taylor in vain to do that. But I am a Converse purist.

I've been wondering what (or when) I was going to do something with my 4-year old chucks. I can't bear to throw them out, but I feel awful letting them sit in the back of my closet. So after 4-years of school, work, concerts, and dye, bleach, and permanent marker; I cut them.

I was worried that the fact they were high-tops would be a problem, but I just hacked it all off and they turned out fine. I'll post pictures after I've finished cleaning and embellishing them. They're sitting in the tub at the moment with some water and bleach.  Smiley

i have a sorta kinda not really related question. I have these black and purple chucks that i bought on sale 4 like $17 i got them cuz i luv purple the only problem is i realllllllllllllllllllly do not like black i do not own a single black piece of clothing so these shoes don't go w/ anything. do u think that i could bleach the shoes and then repaint them brown? if so should i use pure bleach or should i dilute it with water? and what kind of paint/ sealer should i use? thanks all you crafty chicas and chicos Grin

If you like the purple but don't like the black, try using a bleach pen on the black.  Test it first in an inconspicuous place (like the tongue) to see if it works and to what extent.  The pen will give you more control than just tossing them in a bucket of bleach.

WOW!  Shocked I love that! That is such a great idea, because they are just like flats now. You see shoes like those everywhere!

If I had a pair of old converse I would so try that!!!

I love the ribbon!  I could so see doing this--and Fred Meyer had them on sale the other day, too.
