I got on Craftster too late to catch this challenge until it was over.  It was definitely my favorite topic to read, and these candles are so great.  This gets me thinking, "Hmmm....if I were do rip this idea off, who would I put on the candles?"  And I'm thinking, "Cher."  Especially a picture of her wearing a big, crazy costume and one of those gracious stage smiles.  Or maybe even pictures of friends, just to be silly (or to give to someone who's moving away...a funny sort of "don't forget to think about us all the time" gift).  Nothing like putting yourself on a candle with a halo of sorts behind your head and elevating yourself to sainthood.  But I think Duran Duran will always be the best!  Well done!

AH-HAHAHAHAHA.  That's just brilliant.  You just earned about a million cool points.  Now I have to think of who/what I want to do that project with Wink

The friends idea is great. And Cher in one of her Oscars dress (I think it was for Moonstruck) wicked Smiley

i peed my pants in delight!
now i have RIO stuck in my head  Cheesy
Those are fanflippin'tastic!  I think I'm going to make these for my friend's Christmas gift...
maybe throw in an Iggy Pop and Ziggy Stardust candle, too.

Did you cut the starburst with an X-acto knife of some kind?  Sorry if someone already asked that...

Or did you just print it to match the color of the candles?

Life isn't complete 'til you crochet a uterus for a friend.  Just make sure your fallopian tubes point down and not up! No one needs to lose an eye this way! Wink

I love personal swaps for small stuff (including Hershey Kisses!)! PM me for happy fun rockin' good times!

I love them!  Cheesy  I so know what I am going to make for my mantel now..  Grin

Have loved Duran Duran for years, through the thick and the thin years. Have seen them now twice since they have regrouped. (Why oh why did they not come back to Detroit the third time through)

I am so glad that you won.

I had the star bursts added as silhouettes. It pays to have friends in the printing industry  Smiley The paper I used was also semi transparent ( so the light would show through.)

and thank you for everyones great comments.

I made these for gifts for Christmas last year, with Janis Joplin, Debbie Harry, Marilyn Monroe. I didn't have the spiffy background though. I used glitter and rhinestones, and they were well received. Your job is much cleaner and more professional looking.
