Also, I should note that my stitch spacing is unorthodox in morse code.  It's supposed to be:

dash = three dots (three stitches)
space between parts of the same letter = one dot (one stitch)

space between two letters = two dots (two stitches)

space between two words = 5 dots (5 stitches)

But I only had 84 stitches to work with, so I cheated a little.

More on morse code at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morse_code, if you really want to geek out.

okily dokily... sorry i haven't been keeping up with this thread, i've just moved and have no internet at home.  but anywho...

i made this hat using the following formula:

a dash = three orange stitches (ooo)
a dot = one orange stitch (o)
space between dots and dashes in the same letter = one white stitch (w)
space between dots and dashes between letters (but within one word) = two white stitches (ww)
space between dots and dashes between words = three white stitches (www)
so.. the words *i am a* would translate to
owowwwowooowwooowoo owwwowooowww
owowww  owooowwooowooowww  owooowww (separated into words with space at the end)

i hope that helps.

Well, I needed a hat for wintertime approaching way up North here in Canadia, and I couldn't dare to resist knitting this.

Knitting + watching too much Naruto = "I AM A NINJA" morse code.

I know this post is a year old but I just found it!  I am going to make my brother this hat for christmas.  When he was in the army his job had something to do with code. The best is that we had this ongoing "you suck" thing going from an incidence over the summer.  He is going to love this !  Shocked

This is one of the funniest knit things I've seen! Really a great idea.

Haha, I really like seeing all the morse code hats that've been popping up. This is one of my favourites.

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.
