Project: Morse Code Hat!
Pattern:  k2p2 ribbing, decrease for crown same as kittyville hat from snb.
Yarn:  (all left overs) alpaca yarn (brown), merino wool in *glazed carrot*, and some tweedy ecru rowan yarn (rowan cork?)
Needles: US 8's, Denise Interchangeable
Dimensions:  7.5' in height, fit's one redhead's head in diameter

the orange intarsia says *i am stinky la la* in morse code.  it's subtle enough so that most people won't realize that there's a hidden message, yet the inside joke is so fun!  i think the next hat will be done in the round and will feature a spiraling message in morse code.  whaddya all think?

p.s.  this is my first post on craftster!
wheeeeeee!
*update*
thanks for all the comments  Grin
  • for morse code goodness, i used this website to translate: http://www.onlineconversion.com/morse_code.htm.  but googling *morse code* comes up with many great resources, too.
  • yes, the wearer of the hat knows what the hat says
  • each orange letter (whether it's one or three orange stitches) is separated by one white stitch.  words are separated by two white stitches.  i marked the beginning of the reading frame with a ^

The hat on its own is well done. The morse code is what makes it very awesome. Cheesy

That is a riot!  I love inside jokes.  Especially when they are knit into hats.

This is an absolutely fabulous idea, fert! I can guarantee you will inspire many people in here to mimic your work...

I love the idea that you can take any private message or public statement and put it out there for the world to see, if only people knew what they were looking at!

GROOVY!

Very clever use of the code ... very good!  Does the wearer know about the hidden message?
