i have knitted my first sock ever!  this has been a long process and finally found the greatest, most dumbed-down sock tutorial EVER (Silver's Sock Tutorial).  Here's the first one.  The partner is half completed!

I love those colors...very nice.  I haven't done socks yet but keep feeling the tug to do so every once in a while.  Hopefully soon I can finally sit down and try it.

i know it's been ages since you put this up, but i didn't want to start a new thread just to ask this; I followed the same tutorial, but i found that the foot part of the socks was far too big vertically. Do you know what i mean? I wondered if that was just an error I made, or something you found as well. Congratulations on your first socks!

Yeah, Silver's is what I used to make my first socks. I really like the yarn you've used, what is it?
