shrug / bolero pattern

Hi, I am looking for a pattern for a shrug.  I saw the topic and tutorial at:

I am looking for a pattern like this but I am looking for one that does not tie in the front.  Could this pattern possibly be adapted, if so how. 

Or does anyone know of another easy shrug pattern that isn't knit?

I'm interested in finding some patterns also, but that's the only sewing one that I know of.  lol
