I've never sewn a dress before but after days of thinking on it, I got off my lazy ass and decided to do it!  I made it from a sheet! The bottom, I used a pattern and the top (not shown) I made a pattern for. I was inspired by a dress from http://www.daddyos.com/

Sorry, I didn't iron it after washing.

Wow, nice job for your first dress!  It's cute.  Also I like the vintage-y fabric!  What's it made of?

Nice job--I like how the stripes chevron in front where the skirt meets the bodice!

Congrats on your first dress! It must've been a big step... but it turned out really nicely.

Love the stripes and the design!

I haven't been brave enough to make a dress yet...

Thank you thank you thank you!

It's made of plain 'ole cotton from a sheet I found at the thrift shop. Highly comfortable.

I like it too. I think that was caused by me not paying attention to the pattern's instructions (bad girl, bad!) Thus I had to add the ribbon. All in all it's one of the best mistakes I've made so far.

Aren't those trashy novels just divine?

Thanks to Craftster the step was much easier to take.

Well I say get out there and try it out! Get a cheap sheet and have a plan to cover any mistakes (*cough* Ribbon *cough*) sweet talk your sewing machine, be nice to your iron, and when out of marking chalk try washable markers (NEVER use pen!)

I don't like it either (don't tell my iron it's sensitive) but I can't deny the power a sharp, crisp, line has on the finished product.
