Got a thrift shop in your small town?  I once planned a bridal shower around a thrift shop scavenger hunt.  I split the girls up into two teams and gave them each ten bucks.  They had to find things like:

a champagne flute from a prom or anniversary party
a t-shirt from a charity event from a different town
something with Mr. T on it
a Disney-themed Happy Meal toy
mardi gras beads
a vinyl record by Journey or REO Speedwagon

~piece of gum
~band aid
~bobby pin
~ popsicle stick
~old tv guide

and i'm doin a huge multi-event scavenger hunt for my sweet 16 n june, here's the over all plane:
1. start at the mall and give each group $5, see which group can buy the most items (or the biggest/smallest/etc., i'm still not sure)
2. drive to different places and get 16 things (im gunna b 16):
~16 business cards
~ take out menus
~coupons
~ free samples
~etc.
3. disposable camera search (get certain pics of ppl, then do 1 hour photo)
~ all group at a bus stop
~ everyone wearing a fast food hat (Burger Kind, Steak n Shake, w/e)
~ a cop n a donut shop

You could also add some that would be up to everyone's imagination. Pour example, (sorry. sometimes i go in and out of french) you could have someone take a picture of "happiness." that's totally up to the team... and they'll all be different. Someone might photograph a sunset while another buys a chocolate bar.
