I am sure there are better brains out there...  My brain isn't able to figure out how to make a paw print out of knit / purl for the end of a scarf.  I just made a nice little dish cloth that has a dog made of knits / purls... any ideas?

just draw it out on knitters graph paper - just shade in the paw - print and work the shaded squares as purls on the right side and knit stitches on the wrong side -
one tip though - try and make sure there are no edges between purl and knit stitches that are straight verticals - think about how ribbing works - these purl stitches won't stick out the way you want them to - sorry that's kinda hard to explain but hopefully comprehensible
