Hi!

I just got a new penpal, and I need some ideas of easy stuff to make to send her.  I had some ideas, but a couple fell through, as I have limited funds, so I need a couple more.  What have you guys sent in the past, or do you have any ideas?

Thanks Smiley

are you looking for pen pal themed ideas, or just little gifts to slip in with the letter?

homemade note cards are fun and cheap
you could decopage a box for her to keep all your letters in
ummmmmm...

what were your original ideas?

This is a pretty cool idea from Carol Duvall.  It's a circle journal.   You make kind of a letter holder and then you just send it back and forth.   That way when someone responds from a previous letter, you can just go back and read it.   You could make a really cool one.

Sleepywalkin, I am making some stationery for her, because she collects it.  My ideas were for a couple of broaches.

Hair clips immediately sprung to mind... Things with a postal theme might be cute... somehow using stamps as decoration or something.  I recently bought some frame beads from a JoAnn's fabric... they aren't quite as cute or fancy as the one's seen here: http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H142750FD but same idea.  You could get a cool postage stamp and stick it in a frame and make a necklace or something.  How long-distance is your penpal?  Cuz local things that can only be acquired (or that are thematically appropriate) in your area are always rad to get in the mail.

You could decoupage a box with a postal theme and right in the middle or somewhere when it'll stand out, you should put a postcard from your hometown.  Add a bunch of little things that represent where you come from(i.e. I come from Chicago, so I could put in pictures of the Sears Tower, Windy City keychains, etc.)
What's she into?Huh  That would help.... Roll Eyes

She lives in England, about 200 miles or so from where my fiance lives, I think.  Oooh, liking the postcard on a box thing.  My hometown is a shit town, and I'm quite embarrased of it. I'm thinking of first sending the stationery I made, some photos of the few cool things here, and decorating a photo frame is a great idea as well.

Thanks again, gals!!!
