My Tiki Bedroom ( My first post- be nice)

My husband and I need a fun bedroom. Kitchy, retro, not too girly. Sooooo Tiki it is. I only have a few items here and not the entire room.
 
This is Dolly the nightlight. She's not technically crafty. I just dressed her. But she is the COOLEST thing ever. She is a maidenform bra and girdle display model with a lightbulb in her belly that makes her glow. My husband used her as decoration when he DJ'd. I think she looks better dressed. The scarf around her waist glows blue.

A $5 yardsale dresser. Painted bright high gloss retro turquoise. I just painted some nifty tiki guys on the drawers with craft acrylics. I have one drawer left to do, but we needed the storage space before I was done. We have a second cast away dresser painted the same blue that I have yet to add tiki guys to.  I am waiting and searching for the perfect drawer pulls. Id do my own, but have no fimo talents.

Lastly, the tiki pillow. I just threw him together one night. He pops much more in real  ife. A single row of machine stitching over a thin layer of quliters batting give his face a 3-D effect.  Hes just a lopsided rectangle with ears sewn into the seams.

thats really cute! i like the pillow; its really cool. why dont you get some fun paper laterns, ya know the sphere ones? you can even throw in some coconuts

Thanks. I've got turquoise round paper lanterns from Target.....LOL And cabana striped sheets and bedding and a great throw rug that says Tiki for Two...... just the room itself was a mess and I only wanted to include the things that I "did"

Super fun! I like your tiki guys. We're doing a tiki thing for our bar...Maybe I'll do some pics when It's done.
I had problems coming up with wall covering untill I stumbled across those woven beach mats (At K-Mart Big Lots for $1, but I know they sell them elsewhere just as cheap) Maybe I'll follow your lead with the painting of the drawers and paint tiki faces on them?

Watch for plenty of Tiki stuff out of me in the future. My husband really got into the Tiki/Polynesian thing. He wants a tiki bar, but we only have my dining room china hutch. But I'm doing a sign and some other things for "the  bar" Bambi....you  keep me up on your ideas and I'll share with you and maybe we can get to Tiki-land sane!

So Freakin' Cute!!!! i Love the colors!!!! hey, i collect some tiki memorabillia also, and right now, in the kids meals at Carl's jr., they have the best Tiki men toys..... I bought all four for a buck each!!!! They're Fantastic!!!! Your room loooks Super!!!!
