Hi everyone! This is my first project posted on Craftster, but this site is awesome! I've been lurking for a few months getting inspired by all the great ideas here. After waiting anxiously for the package of picks and a maddening trip to the hardware store, here is my belt:

They are pearl finished picks. I dabble at guitar, so I'm not a total poser! Wink I'm a music major at college, and my actual instrument (trombone) demands most of my attention. But anywho, I'm trying to start up a small craft business and I want to put these up for sale - do you think they would sell?

It's really simple actually if anyone is interested in making one. I just drilled the picks at both ends with a 3/32" drill bit and linked them all end to end with jump rings. The biggest pain is making sure you have enough of each color to keep the pattern. You could also do them randomly, or do all one color. In any case, I like shiny objects and belts, so this is perfect for me. Smiley

Thanks so much for checking it out!

i really love it
but two questions. was it expensive to make<ie buying the picks>
and is it just for show or does it actually work at holding your pants up?

and by the way i would totally buy it- its amazing!

I play the guitar (started a few months ago) and I love that belt! I love anything with guitar picks. If you put them up for sale they would sell.

Hey! You know, I think it would probably be just for show...if it was like really heavy baggy pants, it might not work too well. I may end up reinforcing it with an extra set of metal rings, i.e. doing two between each pick so it's a little sturdier.

And as far as $, it's actually not too bad. I bought a set of 60 picks on eBay for $20, and used 33 I believe. I had jump rings already cause I make jewelry. I'd say materials-wise it cost about $14 total.

Thanks for the nice compliments everyone! I'm so glad people like it...at first I was like, okay, I'm the only one who's going to think this is cool. Smiley It's really cool to get such nice feedback about your stuff! Thanks!

That amount of  money sounds exactly right. For your standard pick, it's .33 cents a peice.

If it's a sturdier pick (Like my fav brand COOL) it's more like a dollar. But those are thick and have this rough spot on them for your thumb to grip it better (some guy at a local shop that worked there gave me two to try out because theyre awesome and that shop is cool like that)

Crappier picks might be cheaper, but the standard pick tends to be 33 cents here at least (Texas)
