Thought I'd repost my new class for June 12, 2010 - eco chic jewelry making

You can check out http://www.beadhivebeads.com for the scoop!

Making fashionable jewelry? Have you checked your recycle bin, because it is full of inspiration and supplies! Store-bought beads take a backseat in this class as you create unique and interesting components for one-of-a-kind jewelry. Two-liter bottles, plastic bags and bubble wrap, softener sheets, aluminum cans and gift cards all have new life as eco-friendly jewelry components. Come learn how you can create environmentally friendly jewelry from solar powered pendants to plastic bag cuffs. The possibilities are endless.

Hope to see some craftsters in class.

Eco Chic Jewelry: bubble wrap, fabric softener sheets and plastic shopping bags

All that stuff looks awesome, Steven James! It's a busy weekend for me but I hope you'll be back when things have calmed down a bit and I can come to your classes!

Instead of creating a whole new post, I thought I would update an old one with new classes I'm teaching at The Beadhive in S. MSP.   I'm also hoping to find out what's happening that weekend around town any fairs or festivals?

What's a birthing necklace?

I've seen really basic ones and really elaborate versions.   Usually during the shower, everyone brings a significant "bead" or drilled stone that has special meaning for the mother, baby, parents - "rose quartz - healthy heart" - kind of like that, someone strings all of the beads together and presents it to mom to be - she holds on to it during the birth "for strength and guidance" and having never had a child myself to help her with any other issues taking place during the labor.  They're really quite interesting and they are often hung in the baby's room after the birth.

I'm coming back to town to teach at the Beadhive.  I'll hopefully post pix of class projects later today.
