Instead of creating a whole new post, I thought I would update an old one with new classes I'm teaching at The Beadhive in S. MSP.   I'm also hoping to find out what's happening that weekend around town any fairs or festivals?

What's a birthing necklace?

I've seen really basic ones and really elaborate versions.   Usually during the shower, everyone brings a significant "bead" or drilled stone that has special meaning for the mother, baby, parents - "rose quartz - healthy heart" - kind of like that, someone strings all of the beads together and presents it to mom to be - she holds on to it during the birth "for strength and guidance" and having never had a child myself to help her with any other issues taking place during the labor.  They're really quite interesting and they are often hung in the baby's room after the birth.
