My daughter, Shelby, just completed her very first scarf (okay, I am a little proud  Grin) after many false starts. We decided to use 13 needles, very chunky yarn (Lion Brand Thick and Quick), and simple pattern. Cast on 12 stitches. Knit 5 rows in garter, then k all even rows and k3, p 6, k3 for all odd rows. Continue alternating all the even and odd rows until you have about a yard left, then knit 5 rows in garter and bind off. Very easy and very quick . . . she knit hers in about a week but just said that her homework isn't done for tomorrow  Shocked.

The pattern came great on the scarf and the color is great. She did a great job!

I'm sorry, but your princess is in another castle!
