I have been reading the brioche in the round scarf pattern many times, but am a bit too intimidated to try it yet.  I commend your efforts on the hat!  Good luck, and hopefully, 5th time is the charm  Grin

I have managed to finish the hat! It takes a lot of concentrating and reading the instructions carefully. I am still not sure I got it all right.
For casting I did double casting, where each finger holds a different color. I alternated with the color and when I used the color on the index finger I did "reverse double CO" so I will get L,D,L,D as the pattern call for. Then it is really crucial to follow the pattern stich by stich and make sure you are doing the yf, yb right.
The decrease was even more difficult cause you have to decrease keeping the special pattern. I am not sure I got this part right, but you can see for yourself:

The hat:

wow! You've been busy.  Your hat looks great! I have yet to try the two color cast on method and I'm super-impressed!

All your projects look fantastic!  I bought that book, but am totally intimidated by it.  The egg cozies and curly-toed slippers were sooo adorable that I couldn't resist.  Are you going to make the slippers?  Congratulations!  Beautifully done!

Nekko--

That brioche hat looks fabulous!!!! I tried that one about a year ago, and got so frustrated, I finally gave up. Seems like one you *really* need to pay attention to.

And the checkerboard, and egg cozies...love them!

Has anyone tried the unisex knock-around cashmere pullover from Weekend Knitting?  I'm having trouble with it and would love some help!

This is my Brioche Stitch Hat.  It was definitely really challenging.  I think that the description of how to do the stitch in the book is not very good, because I had to rip out my first attempt at it about ten rows in.

Great job on the brioche, you guys!

I really admire your courage to tackle such a feat.  I look one look at that pattern and ran for the hills.  I am in total awe!  Wow.   Shocked

Great job, I agree that the pattern looks quite scary. I'm curious, what does "brioche" mean exactly?
