I've often wondered about the vegan-ness of human breast milk- it's given freely & knowingly, so it's different than animal milk. But all the vegans I know can't seem to get past the "ech" factor to give me an answer. Being a vegetarian who gives praise to the cow, goat & chicken gods every day for the cheese & eggs provided, I don't think I would want human cheese, but I do wonder if it would work. I'm no farm girl, but breast milk does seem to be of a different consistency than other animals'. Okay now I am waaaay overthinking this!

Nor would I! But i do feel a little hypocritical because I don't mind eating it if it came out of another animal... I justify my dairy & egg consumption by thinking it doesn't kill the animal, but still, it's gross when you think about it that way. I'm vegetarian purely for the gross-out factor of eating a corpse. It's a me-thing. (oh and the egg thing- I'm pro choice too! haha!)

i wonder if it would taste slightly like whatever the person has eaten... like if you ate a lot of onion and garlic, if it would flavor the milk/cheese  im a nut!

That is really....... I am lost for words.
It did remind me of when I weaned my son, I had a whole lot of frozen breast milk left over and I did ponder for a while if there was anything I could do with it. I never thought of making cheese with it though.

If you put it on the menu at a fancy-schmancy restaurant and slapped a high price on it, I bet you'd have people lining up for it.  (I wouldn't be in that line, though.)

Weird. I thought from the title of your post, that this would be a mis-translation (like the Vietnamese market I used to live near, which was called "Man Fat Meat Mart"... I always wondered if I should point out that their name had unfortunate overtones of cannibalism in English...).

I guess people are animals, like cows and goats, but might not the average woman be exposed to a few more drugs and chemicals (even if vegan) than the average farm animal? I know cows are on drugs these days... but really! Well, I never eat cheese, anyway, so umm... to each his own.

well, I've heard that our predisposition towards heavily sugared foods stems from the natural sweetness of breast milk...crazy mammals, all of us!
