I looked around and found this sight:

it is a pretty comprehensive guide...
theres a couple things I would say though,
first, the guide says something about only using light colored shirts, and I've found this to be totally unnessacary. My first shirts were white ink on black, and they came out fine.
also, If you can't get the copy place to use more toner to make your transparency opaque, you can use 2 transperency's lined up. (that's what I ususally end up using, as kinkos can never ge them dark enough)
but that's about it,
