I'm moving to Langley, BC for school in the fall, TWU, on Glover Road. Right now, I know next to nothing about transportation, where to go, what to do
I am planning on bringing rollerblades but I don't want to bring a bike, because I'm afraid of bikeriding, especially on hills and around cars. I also want to be able to go thriftshopping and stuff, so where would I go for that? Or for like, free events? Snowboarding? I'm hoping there's like, a hill I can just hike, cuz I don't think I can afford a lift ticket, haha.  I'm definately going to be on a budget! And any craftsters in the area?
I'm really excited, but also nervous of course.

I live in langley, and yes the transit here sucks. depending on where you are living rollerblading to school might be tough as its on top of a bit of a hill and Glover is a pretty busy road....good side is head south on Glover to Fraser Hwy and right on the corner is a super cool coffee shop called Ethical Addictions....where its cool to hang out and craft or read or whatever....right behind is VAlue Village and to the west is a little strip mall with a cool vintage shop full of old stuff and a thrift store called the Penny Pincher, all within this vicinity is Army & Navy, Opus Art Supplies, 1$ store and a couple of other 2nd hand shops...

yep groovyglassgirl said it best. transit is awful in langley and trinity is pretty far from the "city" part of langley. and ethical addicitions is awesome!

where are you moving from?
langley is actually a nice place to live. growing up i couldn't wait to get away from it, but after 5 years of living in downtown vancouver, then moving back, langley never looked so good! it's grown alot and lots to do!
good luck with the move!

thanks,
I'm moving from small town portage la prairie Manitoba.
UBC looked kindof intimidating-- the number of students is twice the size of the population here! lol!

ubc is pretty scary! i didn't go there but one of my bestfriends did, and it's huge.
i don't know anything about trinity except that it's a really good school. my aunt works there and my cousin went there.
feel for to ask any ??'s and i'll try and help!

thanks!  yeah, my dad went there. he wasn't a christian when he went there and he liked it- so it must be pretty good. (I have a horror of over-sheltered christians.)

lol. i"m pretty excited.

amandajones, is there anything i should bring? I'm packing this weekend, and am kinda sketched out about it... i"m like, do i need an iron? no. do I need an iron? yes. no. yes. no.

my bedding's in BC already, so that's taken care of.!
I've also been watching a couple other university threads on here, but I"m still nervous! thanks for your support... it's kindof like you guys are holding my hand, in a kindof um, not parental or romantic way. lol .haha ....

how funny, i originally moved to delta (about 30min from langley) from portage la prairie!

but i'm in vancouver now and i honestly try to avoid langley as much as possible, (and TWU even more so) so i can't really help you much!

but if you're a sewer, there's an awesome supply store called a great notion, they're pretty much the only thing i'm willing to go to langley for. http://www.agreatnotion.com/
