god, totally! i always thought that was just a stereotype and that i wasn't affected by it, until people started to point out certain situations, and i realized that i have such irrational guilt, and it all traces back to catechism classes and my grandmother!

i have mixed feelings about it.  to me, VM is a safe feeling, one of comfort.  also, when i moved from my midwest home on "the prarie" (heh), i left the most beautiful church ever--and not only architecturally beautiful, but people beautiful.  everyone was giving and caring and it was that sense of community. it wasn't to show off.   here in cincinnati i haven't found any catholic church near me, and the ones i know of are big and contemporary and nondemonational and are "for show".  not my thing.

My husband pointed it out to me when I first met him and now I catch myself on a daily level feeling guilty for stuff. Its somehting that needs to be worked on and in the meantime I'm going to love the VM again Cuz, mothers rock!

ohmygod, virgin mary and leopard print! that's brilliant!

They weren't hard to make at all...I just bought coasters from the dollar store, took off the printed picture, and put leopard print paper and the printed marys on w/ white glue. Then I poured resin on top, and viola! They're so fun to do! Glad you all like them, esp. you, dixie!
