I am making chokers, but I want some different sizes.  Does anyone know the "average" choker length?  Or do you want to tell me how big your necks are?  LOL.  I feel like my neck is bigger than other girls so I don't want to go off of just my neck size.  LOL.   Thanks!  Grin

I was watching a television show called "Jewelry Making" and they said that an average choker is about 17". For me that seems too big. I like my chokers around 15". That Jewelry Making show comes on almost everyday and yesterday, they were making chokers.

The show is called Jewelry making with Jackie Quera. Jackie played Selena's sister in the movie "Selena". She is really great and has some really good guest that know what they are doing. They also put all the patterns on line so we can make them too. She is on the DIY network. On Direct TV it's channel 230 you'll have to look up the cable channel it's on if you have cable instead of Directtv. You can check out the web site at: www.diynetwork.com.

17" average for a choker?  Woo!  that's only an inch shorter than an average necklace length!  I agree with 15.

And dang not getting all the cool US TV channels!  I want some DIY network! Wink

I would say 15 as well.  A very common necklace length is 16 inches.  I have a 16 inch one and its just a bit too long for a choker.

Perhaps make it 15 inches or even a little smaller, but add extra loops so people can custom sizse some what?

adding extra loops on chokers is a definite yes.  I know they sell specific sterling chain units designed for specifically that, but I'm sure they're easy enough to make yourself with a bit of chain.  It's a nice thing to do, especially if you want to appeal to customers who do not fit within the 'average'.

16" fits a larger than average girl's neck or a smallish guy's neck...I was using some skinny guy's a know to test the length of a hemp choker I was making and when I was done it fit me too...
