I never thought of using other things. A bannister or some other cool back ground would look way better than my styro heads. Thanks! I'm with you, in that I am a big thrift store shopper so it never even occurred to me until a friend mentioned it.

I wondered about that. Some people who gave me advice said to model them on myself or other people so you can really see how the hat fits and others said it's weird to buy a hat you've seen on someones head. I don't know. They look better on a real head as opposed to my styrofoam head. I always wash and block them after taking pictures then store them in ziplocks inside a big box of finished stuff. Maybe I should mention in the description they are cleaned prior to packing and shipping. Anybody else have thoughts on this? I'd love to hear 'em.

Oh yeah...I totally agree it looks better on you Cheesy  Yeah.. washing or sterilization or something in the description could be good.

Either way...they're cute!!  Everyone overlooked that portion of my post.  tee hee.

Hey Kate, congrats on 2nd sale.  one way to display hats that is not too pricey is to get a candlestick, make a little pillow, fit it over the candle stick and viola--- a hat stand.  Here is what I did, hope it helps.  http://www.etsy.com/view_item.php?listing_id=124788

Though with knit hats one might make a headshape pillow to support the hat in head shape.  Or make a jersey knit hat to wear as a liner under the knit hats when you show them on a person.  And tell that in the description.

Your idea of telling that you clean and block after modeling also may do the trick.

Some people will prefer to see a hat modeled, others will not.  Sometimes we just cannot please everyone.  I guess just try different things and go with what works best for you and what shows your hats the best.  Good luck.

Synne!  I noticed you sold the citrus cooler pendant... congrats!

I bought that one! It's MINE. Well, not yet, because the paypal decided to be clever and get the money out of the bank instead of the creditcard so it is taking a bit to clear, but still.

LOL...nah, I just didn't want you to think I was focusing on the negative.  Smiley  My head just doesn't look right in hats   Sad  If it did... I'd buy one.  Tee hee.

GraceO- that is an awesome idea! I may have to steal it.

Sweets4ever- These are a few of the hats I've made that I actually like on me. I usually look ridiculous. So I knit them and immediately give them away or try to sell them because I love to knit hats, but hate the way I look in them. I keep thinking if I put up any other styles I'll need to find someone to model for me because I'll look silly.
