hi everyone...
last week i'd asked for a little input on my etsy site and thingwraith, craftykate and robynlisa gave some great feedback... so now i've taken some of the advice and posted a new item and was hoping for a followup or more feedback...

http://www.girlscantell.etsy.com

i'm still an etsy newbie, really, so i'm quite anxious about the whole thing.  :-\

I like your banner. Your prices look good, too.  There is a spelling error in the tote listing, though: you reversed the s and the k in thanks.

Your site is really nice!  how did you make that banner?  I like your shop setup, the pictures are nice and you have great descriptions.

Can anyone guide me re: design ideas for a chanukah plate?

This made me think--do you do Seder plates? It might be cutting it close this year (starts April 13, 2006), but I bet you guys could make some beautiful ones!

I just set up shop!  Grin I only have 2 items but I'm going to be working on some more tonight and I'll be a busy bee this weekend! My pics aren't that good b/c my camera was being dumb and wouldn't upload some of the ones that I took so I had to use the pics that were already on the computer from when I posted on Craftster. I also had a banner that I made in MS paint but it was too big and paint makes me mad so I didn't feel like messing with it. I also need an avatar...I've got a lot to do tommorrow.

Are my prices too high? I always worry about that.  Tongue

cute clutches! and i don't think your prices are too high. personally, i get really frustrated with people who *underprice* handmade stuff (like knit items that take a considerable amount of time to "whip up") because it undervalues everyone else's stuff and does nobody any favours. i mean, who wants to make a $0.50 profit on something that took them 3 hours to make? likewise, i don't think it's right to severely overcharge for an item, because then no one will buy it, and it will send even more people flocking in the direction of those underpricers.

Embarrassed i hope that didn't come off as *too* much of a rant. it's just a hot-button issue i've been discussing with some friends lately.

PS - the "EYE" sold and I know it was because it made the featured items list.
I can't believe someone bought the eye!

We just had an item featured on Monday (fiancé made a sketchbook w/tree illustration) and it sold the same day. Getting featured rocks. I wish there was a way for us to nominate items to be featured so we could spread the love.

I've been adding to my shop lately (finally fulfilling the claim to selling stationery!), and am trying to get some unsappy Valentine's things off the ground.

Anyone else trying to market towards that upcoming, often dreaded holiday?

My accessories we're intended to be Valentine's Day sellers. It remains to be seen if it will work out for me.

Not at all a rant! I hate when I see crocheted or knitted items in stores going for cheap.

Thank you!
