I understand where you're coming from. I have several theories as to why I'm not doing better. But I've come into this holiday season with the hope that since I haven't had my shop all that long, next Christmas will be better for me.

I looked at your shop, and I think you have some awesome items. I'm getting some promo bags together to give to my mom to give out at her beauty shop in Texas. If you want to get some exposure that way, convo me and I'll give you my address. I've had a great response so far. I'll need them ASAP though, so I can get the bags to my mom over the Thanksgiving holiday. If anyone else is interested, convo me as well.

I got my craftonomy necklace and it ...is....AWESOME!! Seriously.  Taerowyn is grand, and I'm really happy with it.  Yay.

You can't see the pendant properly (it was too flashy reflecty when i faced it forward) but you get a sense of how much I like it, anyway *grin*

I got this idea a few years ago when I was breastfeeding my youngest DD. Tell me what you think?

Sometimes competition is quite funny.

I have seen several Etsy sellers offer crocheted keychain lip balm holders lately. Their item descriptions almost always start with what a wonderful original idea of theirs this is, LOL. Well, of course it is possible that they missed all of my hundredandthirtysom ething lip balm holder listings. And of course I know that I don't own the idea.

Oh, and did you know you can now buy chrocheted keychain lip balm holders on Etsy for 50 cents? So, 20 cents go to Etsy, plus a very tiny sales fee, and then there is this PayPal fee... Why don't they just give it away for free in the first place?

Anyhow, I don't mean to complain. I am not bothered at all by this kind of healthy competition. It actually makes me more proud of my own product.
And they DO make me smile sometimes. Crocheting a keychain lip balm holder and then selling it with a loss... What IS their business plan?

rrb21 - How cute!  what a great idea Cheesy

BeaG - 50 cents!! it isn't even worth going through all the computer stuff to purchase something for 50 cents.  some people just don't think things all the way through before they do things

Yay!  I'm so glad you like!

I hear you on the "flashy reflecty" problem.  There's some materials that I love the looks of them but they're such a pain to photograph well. That silver and then I have a great iridescent are two of the worst culprits. The images on Etsy just don't do them justice. Glad you liek the real thing!

Crocheting a keychain lip balm holder and then selling it with a loss... What IS their business plan?

Underpricing is so ridiculous.  As bixby points out, buying something for 50 cents online is just not worth it.  Plus you're left wondering why the seller thinks it's only worth that little...what's the hidden story/what's wrong with it.  When I do seraches for a specific item, I always do the search and then find the midpoint of the prices and look from there... a) I try not to support under-pricing since, as it's been discussed many times, the practice ends up devaluing everybody's work and b) I just can't trust something that cheap.  How do I know cheap money-wise doesn't translate into cheap construction-wise.

I'm wondering about the price.....too high?? too low??

I never know what to charge. How does everyone else determine that?
