If I'm doing my photos in natural light, my camera has a cloud setting and I use that one.
I forgot about this tip. It really does help to brighten up your photos. Windows are good, but I prefer to take mine right outside on really sunny days.
I find overly sunny days tend to wash out photographs, trust me. It's never great to take pictures in direct scorching sunlight, it's much better to have natural overcast light, or at least to not take the picture in the midday sun.

re: Peanut Dog Productions
I'd have to agree with both the pricing and the pics. And don't forget - the more pics the merrier
Your stuff is really cute - and the descriptions are cute without being overly sugary - I like 'em (that's one of the tougher parts for me)
good luck with it all

Well - I finally decided to go forward and started my etsy. My website is staying - but more for display and directing to etsy than actual selling - if anyone sells on both - how does it work for you?
So - constructive critiques are highly appreciated. I was having a hard time with the descriptions. I wanted to make them fun, but everything I tried just sounded stupid. So I went with simple. And I am wondering if other stuff slid b/c of the time spent on descriptions.
Thanks in advance

Ditto the direct sunlight thing. Direct sun usually gives me strange shadows and makes my items look wonky. I go to the bright window but away from the sun or to a shaded area of my yard.
I also have a DIY lightbox, but I don't really need to use it this time of year.

I think your description are just fine!
*sigh* 14 tags! use all 14 of your tags! Use color and style as descriptors so people will find your items in a specific search!

I have read that you can use a microwave as a diy lightbox.

Tagging is really a pain. You can use handmade, your username, colors, fabric types, words like, funky, fresh, garden, flowers, floral.. those words are some ideas.

Hmm.. that seems kind of small and awkward

I guess it depends on your microwave! But it could be useful for some folks, especially for jewelry and tiny items. I haven't tried it, because I have a toaster oven!
